Types Of Swim Wears
Humans have been swimming for centuries now. Although our respiratory systems are not conducive to water related activities, our adaptability and sheer passion for water have driven us to conquer the blue world. Unless one owns a private swimming pool, swimming is a social activity. And the smart swim dressing comes in.
Swimsuit has to be simple and efficient. It can either be skin tight or loose fitting. It must not absorb water and get heavy with each stride. It should also be lined with a secondary layer to prevent the outer layer from becoming transparent. Swim suits should also be comfortable enough to let the hands and legs move freely in the water.
There are a variety of swim suit designs to choose from, starting from designs that almost completely cover the body to designs that expose as much. The choice of choosing from such variety greatly depends on personal and community modesty and on factors like sun protection and fashion trends. Swim suit has shifted its role from being a mere clothing item to a trend setter in the fashion world.
Style has always driven man’s needs. Hence we have different types of swim wears.
Women’s swimsuits are generally described as one-piece, bikinis, or thongs. The bikini can be one piece or two. It provides the freedom to enjoy a swim without a bulky dress.
The term bikini can also be applied to Men’s undergarments and swimwear. A strange variant of the men’s bikini is the Mankini. The Mankini is a kind of sling bikini worn by men. Men’s swimsuit styles also include boardshorts, jammers, swim trunks, briefs, thongs, and g-string.
Competitive swim wear
Swimsuits designed specifically for swimming competitions are constructed of a special low resistance fabric. Such swim suits are designed mainly giving importance to assist better performance of the athlete than aesthetic appeals. They also help reduce friction and muscle vibration increasing the efficiency of the swimmer’s forward motion.
Swim wear Hygiene
With more people being attracted to swimming, considering along its health benefits too, we need to take more care about swim wear hygiene. The dampness in bathing suits makes it an ideal breeding ground for Germs, bacteria and mold. So one should avoid wearing damp swimwear for long periods of time which can cause a number of infections and rashes in children and adults.
Sharing swimsuits must be avoided totally. This will otherwise bring the risks of skin infections, itching and allergy.
