How to keep apartments cool and energy costs in summer heat?
There are always helpful hints on the "winter" an apartment, because changes can not be permanent, but no tips on keeping the cold air "to" hot and humid weather, summer in south Texas! Please help!
Keep your curtains closed (and / or blinds) during the day. You can invest in some insulating curtains (Walmart & such). They keep the heat in summer and warm in winter. Take a cool shower just before going to bed. This sounds crazy, but it works. . . Put your leaves in a plastic bag and throw them in the refrigerator for several hours. They are cool when you crawl into bed and you file in sleep the body temperature down. If you have ceiling fans to leave them on 24 / 7 to keep the air circulating. Set a bowl of ice in front a case fan. A reusable gel pack fresh as you use for a headace or turned ankle, works very well if you slip into your pillow. Hope this helps, Peg
